Shaun Tait breaks the middle stump, BBL 2016

Hobart Hurricanes have successfully defeated the Sydney Sixers by 60 runs in their opening game of the BBL 2016. Paine and Short hit fifties for the Hurricanes and that provided them a great launching pad to hit a big total.

In the second innings it was the pace of Shaun Tait. The fast bowler is in so much good bowling form that he broke the middle stump of Billings who was playing really well. Billings certainly was defeated by the pace on this ball. It went in straight and flattened out his stumps.

Hurricanes were asked to bat first in their opening game. Sydney Sixers won the toss and decided to bat first. The wicket was looking really good for batting and Sixers should have batted first. Their first mistake of the night and probably the biggest one.

Paine and Short were in great bating form. The two gentlemen went in and hit some lovely shots. The Hurricanes immediately got the idea that the wicket was really good and they can hit the ball as per their liking. This is what Sixers missed out. Both the openers hit brisk fifties and provided the Hurricanes the ideal opening stand. Now the next batters did not get much runs but just because of the opening partnership Hurricanes finished on 200 which is a mighty T20 total.

Sixers did not get the runs from their top order. Sam Billings was their highest scorer with 42. He was batting really well but then Tait jolted his stumps down with a ripping 148 kmph ball. They went straight in and straight out uprooting the middle stump along with all the stumps mic circuit.

Billings did not play this one well enough. He was half down half up, in between two postures while trying to flick the ball on the leg side. This was never going to work for him against the pace of Tait. The ideal way was to hit it with a much straight ball and body posture. Sixers could only make 140 runs and they lost the game by 40 runs.
For the Hurricanes this was a thumping performance. They did play really well in both the innings. The score they made in the first innings gave them the confidence to perform well in the second. They have a good decent bowling attack and they will surely test the batting lines of all the teams. Tait looks in good form and his fitness is up to the mark as well. This is a good sign for him.
